Period of Service
Service Citations
One citation for each full year of continuous service with the Brigade. Open to any full-time or part-time member.
4 Year Service Citation
- Eligibility
- Any full-time or part-time member.
- Awarded for
More than 4 years of continuous service within DIG.
3 Year Service Citation
- Eligibility
- Any full-time or part-time member.
- Awarded for
3 years of continuous service within DIG.
2 Year Service Citation
- Eligibility
- Any full-time or part-time member.
- Awarded for
2 years of continuous service within DIG.
1 Year Service Citation
- Eligibility
- Any full-time or part-time member.
- Awarded for
1 year of continuous service within DIG.
Service Medals
For time in the unit and a clean record. The Good Conduct Medal gains a clasp for each further period without a formal warning.
Good Conduct Medal (GCM)
- Eligibility
- Any full-time or part-time member.
- Awarded for
Given upon completing all of the following:
- Been in the unit for 18 months without a formal warning.
- Attended a total of 25 or more nights.
Clasps and devices
First ClaspIf no formal warning is received, the First Clasp is awarded 12 months after the Good Conduct Medal.
Second ClaspIf no formal warning is received, the Second Clasp is awarded 12 months after the First Clasp.
Third ClaspIf no formal warning is received, the Third Clasp is awarded 12 months after the Second Clasp.
Fourth ClaspIf no formal warning is received, the Fourth Clasp is awarded 12 months after the Third Clasp. The final clasp.
General Service Medal (GSM)
- Eligibility
- Any full-time or part-time member.
- Awarded for
Be within the unit for at least 90 days and attend 10 nights between 07 July 2022 and 07 July 2026.
Non-Operational
Contribution Awards
For members who give their time to the unit away from operations: training, recruiting, administration, media and setting the standard for others. Open to any full-time or part-time member.
Beyond Award (BA)
- Eligibility
- Any full-time or part-time member.
- Awarded for
Dedication and performance relating to:
- Displaying CANZUK’s values and standards continuously and above the expected levels.
- Showing high levels of enthusiasm and dedication at all times.
Founding Member (FM)
- Eligibility
- Any full-time or part-time member.
- Awarded for
- Played a crucial role in the development and opening of the community.
- Was part of the original planning team during the initial start of Digger Company.
Group Development Award (GDA)
- Eligibility
- Any full-time or part-time member.
- Awarded for
Dedication and performance relating to:
- Group development.
- Document and/or training development.
- Encouraging and assisting new members.
- Assisting in training and/or recruitment.
Public Relations Award (PRA)
- Eligibility
- Any full-time or part-time member.
- Awarded for
Dedication and performance relating to:
- Promotion of CANZUK.
- Media creation and distribution.
- Social media promotion.
- Organisation of intercommunity events.
Diplomat Award (DA)
- Eligibility
- Any full-time or part-time member.
- Awarded for
Dedication and performance relating to:
- Recruitment of new applicants.
- Promotion of the group.
Watchman Award (WA)
- Eligibility
- Any full-time or part-time member.
- Awarded for
Demonstrated an act or acts displaying CANZUK’s values and standards to a high level. Displayed a high level of positive personal attributes including but not limited to selflessness, kindness, sacrifice, generosity, compassion, sympathy and understanding.
Instructor Award (IA)
- Eligibility
- Any full-time or part-time member.
- Awarded for
Dedication and performance relating to:
- Training of new CANZUK members.
- Furthering personal knowledge through own training and study.
- Working on training and certification documents.
Conspicuous Service Award (CSA)
- Eligibility
- Any full-time or part-time member.
- Awarded for
Dedication and performance relating to:
- Administration.
- Trainings.
- Group development and growth.
Soldiers Mentality Award (SMA)
- Eligibility
- Any full-time or part-time member.
- Awarded for
The Soldiers Mentality Award recognises any member who may not meet the exact criteria for any other award or citation. Although it has wide criteria, it mainly relates to:
- General positive behaviour and attitude within the community.
- Setting and upholding CANZUK standards and expectations.
- Assisting others and/or time dedicated to training and recruiting.
- Dedication to unit admin, media, trainings or other department responsibilities.
Clasps and devices
First ClaspThe second tier. Awarded to members who have already received the Soldiers Mentality Award.
Second ClaspThe third tier. Awarded to members who have already received the Soldiers Mentality Award and First Clasp.
Third ClaspThe fourth tier. Awarded to members who have already received the Second Clasp.
Fourth ClaspThe fifth and final tier. Awarded to members who have already received the Third Clasp.
Leadership
Leadership Awards
For members who show CANZUK’s leadership values and standards, from those not in a leadership role up to senior leaders. Each level has its own rank requirement.
Senior Leadership Award (SLA)
- Eligibility
- Any full-time or reservist member with the rank of CPL or above.
- Awarded for
Members in a senior leadership role who demonstrate CANZUK’s leadership values and standards. The member shows initiative, quick decision making, professionalism and tactical knowledge outside of their worn rank.
Junior Leadership Award (JLA)
- Eligibility
- Any full-time or reservist member with the rank of LCPL who holds a 3IC or 2IC role.
- Awarded for
Members in a junior leadership role who demonstrate CANZUK’s leadership values and standards. The member shows initiative, quick decision making, professionalism and tactical knowledge outside of their worn rank.
Protagonist Award (PA)
- Eligibility
- Any full-time or part-time member.
- Awarded for
Members in non-leadership roles who demonstrate DIG’s leadership values and standards. The member shows initiative, quick decision making, professionalism and tactical knowledge outside of their worn rank.
Operational
Campaign Medals
For taking part in operations against other communities. Campaign medals carry a clasp for each campaign; the Campaign Medallion counts operations attended.

North Africa Campaign Medal
- Eligibility
- Any full-time or part-time member.
- Awarded for
Attending operations against another community in North Africa. Clasps are given for different operations.
Eastern Europe Campaign Medal
- Eligibility
- Any full-time or part-time member.
- Awarded for
Attending operations against another community on the Eastern Front. Clasps are given for different operations.
Western Europe Campaign Medal
- Eligibility
- Any full-time or part-time member.

Specialist Awards
For engineers and medics whose work in the field kept the unit fighting.
Medic Service Cross (MSC)
- Eligibility
- Any full-time or part-time member.
- Awarded for
Decisions the member made in a medic role that enabled treatment and recovery of patients, continuation of a vital task, and/or prevented others becoming KIA, MIA, injured or otherwise remaining in severe danger.
Combat Engineer Medal (CEM)
- Eligibility
- Any full-time or part-time member.
- Awarded for
Dedication and performance relating to:
- Continued focus on production and maintenance of nodes so resources are available for the Army Commander, armour crews and the artillery corps.
- Supporting tank crews by building repair stations, repairing the tank under fire and safely removing enemy satchel charges.
- Fortifying key locations so the enemy cannot assault and capture territory in an offensive.
- Using the sapper subclass role effectively to remove enemy fortifications and armour, allowing the infantry to advance.
Gallantry Awards
For significant acts of professionalism and dedication in combat, from continual and absolute acts down to a single act. Listed from most to least senior.
How gallantry is measured
This can be measured in many ways including but not limited to:
- Acting above the rank and/or position held by the member.
- How the member handled multiple or significantly difficult situations in combat.
- Decisions the member made that enabled treatment and recovery of patients, continuation of a vital task, and/or prevented others becoming KIA, MIA, injured or otherwise remaining in severe danger.
- Conducting themselves with a level of skill and knowledge above their expected level which benefited the situation significantly.
Victoria Cross (VC)
- Eligibility
- Any full-time or part-time member.
- Awarded for
Recognises a member for continual, maintained and absolute significant acts of professionalism and dedication within operations at a standard above what is expected of their rank or position.
Cross of Valour (CV)
- Eligibility
- Any full-time or part-time member.
- Awarded for
Recognises a member for continual and maintained significant acts of professionalism and dedication within operations at a standard above what is expected of their rank or position.
Star of Gallantry (SG)
- Eligibility
- Any full-time or part-time member.
- Awarded for
Recognises a member for a single significant act of professionalism and dedication within operations at a standard above what is expected of their rank or position.
Star of Courage (SC)
- Eligibility
- Any full-time or part-time member.
- Awarded for
Recognises a member for multiple significant acts of professionalism and dedication within operations at a standard above what is expected of their rank or position.
